Trainspotting turns 20, reissues soundtrack

Itâ’s hard to believe that Trainspotting is 20 years old. Danny Boyleâ’s 1996 smash hit struck a chord with casual movie goers and film buffs alike, gaining almost instant cult classic status and an academy award nomination to boot. The stylish tale of lust and drug abuse made Boyle a marquee name with good reason: this was a film of both style and substance, featuring a bang-on cast, a script full of iconic quotes, and some very memorable nightmare-inducing scenes.

The icing on the cake for many, though, is the peerless musical accompaniment. In honor of Trainspottingâ’s 20th anniversary, Rhino has announced that itâ’s reissuing the soundtrack—featuring gems from Iggy Pop, Underworld, and New Order—on vinyl.

Trainspotting: Music from the Motion Picture will feature the original cover art and will be pressed on 180-gram orange vinyl. The limited edition release is also available on CD.

The reissue arrives just in time for Boyleâ’s sequel, T2: Trainspotting, in theaters Feb. 3
