“Game of Thrones” – Summer Is Coming

What do you see when you look at your calendar? Jun 25th surely seems like it’s still very far away. Actually, if you are a normal person it’s just a couple of months, but for every true “Game of Thrones” fan, it’s an eternity.

The TV show’s seventh season’s premiere will happen on that date. After that, only one more season and that’s it! That is, if we believe David Benioff, one of the show’s creators: “The thing that has excited us from the beginning, back to the way we pitched to HBO is, it’s not supposed to be an ongoing show, where every season it’s trying to figure out new story lines. We wanted it to be one giant story, without padding it out to add an extra 10 hours, or because people are still watching it. We wanted something where, if people watched it end to end, it would make sense as one continuous story. We’re definitely heading into the end game now.”

What’s the big deal with this show anyway? Where all the popularity is coming from? The show has a steady 9+ rating on IMDb, and it was rated by 1,108,814 people so far. One million people, for God’s sake! Maybe it’s high time that we admit one simple fact – George R.R. Martin is a genius. He made millions of people addicted to his work, of course with no small help and logistics from the group of wizards widely known as HBO.

Every new season carries new surprises to the audience. And in spite of the fact that we already know the structure of every season (a major cliffhanger at the end of every season is mandatory), we just can’t wait for more.
