Blues Brothers Soul

Like a dose of good medicine, The Blues Brothers movie was just what the doctor ordered.

Now there may be nothing wrong with Madonnaâ’s Into the Groove or Black Lacesâ’s Agadoo, but like many hits of the mid-1980s, there was not much in the music to feed the soul of many a listener.  But there was a saviour in the form of a movie The Blues Brothers.  Great film, great soundtrack.

The Betamax and VHS videocassette technology brought this movie into our homes and we could watch repeatedly like listening to a good record.  Just press rewind, wait five minutes and enjoy â” luxury.

Just hearing the opening notes on Shake A Tail Feather makes me want to get my hands on a Fender Rhodes Suitcase Piano and watch people spontaneously dancing in the street.

This movie reminded many viewers of the great tunes that come before and even took us back to 1931 with “Minnie the Moocher” originally recorded by Cab Calloway, who also performs the song in the movie.

Not only was The Blues Brothers music good for the soul, the movie was funny.  Have a groove, have a grin and break the Blues with this great Bathroom Wall T-shirt.
