More adventures for Bill & Ted?

“Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” was the film that launched the career of young Keanu Reeves. His partner in this science fiction comedy, Alex Winter, wasn’t that lucky, but, all right – first things first.

“Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” was released in 1989, and it became an instant hit. What it was all about, for those who can’t recall?

In a nutshell, Bill Preston and Ted Logan are trying to write a history report, and they are visited by a traveller from the future who grants them access to a time machine. They travel back in time and meet historical figures while learning about main historical events. Oh, did I mention that the time machine is shaped like a telephone booth? Very “Doctor Who”, isn’t it?

Being what it is, the film was a great commercial success, so it’s no wonder that the sequel came to theatres only two years later.

“Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey” had its premiere on this day, 26 years ago. And what could be said about this one? Well, more of the same great fun, actually. It that the bad thing? Hell no! The greatest addition is the appearance of the Grim Reaper (William Sadler); Bill and Ted have to beat him in the series of games in order to escape the afterlife. “The Seventh Seal”, anyone? Yes? I thought so.

As said before, those two films launched the career of the young Keanu. As for his partner’s career… Well, how many of you heard of Alex Winter?

There are rumours about the third film in 2017. Reeves confirmed it in February. Fingers crossed. We’re waiting for it to happen!
